How to Get Rid of the Screen Addiction for Good

About a year ago I noticed a growing problem.  It’s what I think is a screen addiction because I’m addicted to my phone.  My day would begin like this: It’s 6AM, my alarm clock rings.  The day is jam-packed with so much I need to do.  Instead of getting some stuff done while everyone is still asleep, I open my eyes, pull out my phone, and scroll.  Before I know it time has disappeared and I’m scrambling to get my day in order.  It’s time to dress my oldest son, get breakfast ready for everyone, and prepare for our day.

What is it about our phones, anyway?   Why do I feel this compulsion to click and scroll? How do I kick this screen addiction and use my time efficiently? [Read more…] about How to Get Rid of the Screen Addiction for Good

The One Thing You Need to Think About NOW if You Have a Child with Special Needs

Tracking PixelDear readers, you know that I only share with you products and companies I love, and ones that I know have the potential to greatly help you, as well. In saying that, this is a sponsored post by ABLEnow but all opinions are my own.

In just a few more weeks my oldest son will turn 15. Life as his mom is so different than I thought it would be. As a mom with a teenager who has autism (and a host of other special needs) I’ve learned preparing for Adam’s future is a steep hill to climb. Where my friends’ kids are talking about drivers ed, college, and getting a part-time job my son is working on his long list of life-skills. As his mom, I’m looking to a future full of what-ifs and unknowns.

How to Keep Your Day on Schedule and Look Good Doing It

Does your day go something like this? You wake up bright and early with the biggest hopes and aspirations for your day.  You make breakfast and you think about everything you need to do.  While you are day dreaming about your day, the baby starts crying and your two year old dumps her cereal on her lap.  Quickly you leap into action and clean up your toddler all while cuddling the baby.

You don’t realize it then but you forgot to check your phone calendar.  If you had remembered, you would have noticed you had a doctors appointment well-check for your four year old scheduled since last year.  Oops.

Look. It’s a New Year.  If you are anything like me you are looking forward to your new resolutions.  One of my biggest resolutions has been to keep a running list of things I need to get done every – single-day.

If you haven’t downloaded our new printable, daily planner pages, you need to now!  This is perfect to use for busy moms like you.

You can keep track of your:

  • meal plan
  • water intake
  • your priorities
  • things to buy
  • to-do list

Happy New Years … and my Secret Resolution

New Year's Resolution

This post is a difficult one to write.  I’ve been putting it off all day and so I just decided to get on with it because I would love to spend the rest of the night playing silly games with the kids and counting down the New Year.

I feel like I have so many goals for this coming year.  So many thoughts whirl in my mind.  One, though, stands out before all the rest.  Even thinking about it makes me feel nervous-excited all at once.

It’s that feeling I get when faced with a giant fear that I carry around but I know very soon I will have to step out in faith anyway.  Like the moment I step onto an airplane (against all my better judgements), or check into the hospital the day of my baby’s birth, or me setting off to potty train the two year old.  Face it.  It’s happening.

January Minimalism Challenge

So, confession time.  I wouldn’t typically call myself a minimalist.  That’s because my natural tendencies are not that way.  I’m more of a mix between a pack-rat and a mom who desperately wants to be organized.  I do have my moments, however, then I go back over to dark side.
