26 Weeks Pregnant with Baby #7
It’s been a while since I’ve updated you all! Time is flying! So, while I’m still 26 weeks pregnant – I’m actually almost 27 weeks right now so I need to get this update written quickly. I can’t believe I’m about to start the 3rd trimester with this baby. I’ve been so busy in the past few weeks that I have forgotten to write it down here!
Since I last wrote here I started experiencing some troubling symptoms. I got sick twice with back to back “colds” which I think were viruses that somehow were going around our home with the younger kids. The second one really got bad. Because I have asthma, I always need to take extra care and precaution when I get a viral infection. They seem to settle in my lungs quickly and cause other issues. This one I was able to get by with just using my inhalers and resting.
Shortly after that episode, I began to feel exhausted. Not just a little sleepy but the kind of tiredness that hits you down into your bones. I wanted to sleep – a lot. Then the dizzy spells struck. I’ve never experienced this type of dizziness before. It was vertigo but amplified. The room wasn’t just spinning but then my head felt very light headed and like I would faint in a matter of moments. It left me in bed for several days.
My doctor ran a bunch of tests and concluded that my thyroid had gone very very hypo. I already struggle with hypothyroid, although I haven’t mentioned it here on the blog, but I take medicine for it. It is an autoimmune disorder that makes my thyroid work less efficiently. Somehow, my OBGYN had missed that I needed a higher level of medication in the second trimester. Shortly after I started taking my new dosage of levothyroxine the dizzy spells disappeared altogether. I’m so thankful for friends who checked up on me during this time and cared for me by praying. It really means a lot.
I went to my 25-week appointment and found out I was measuring about a month ahead. I’m not sure what exactly that means. My midwife didn’t seem too concerned as this is my 7th baby. In the back of my head I was thinking … with my 6th baby I was measuring a week behind dates and had a 7-pound baby by the end. I’m starting to wonder if this baby is going to be very big – like our second who was born weighing close to 10 pounds!
Otherwise, this little guy has been active and I’ve been feeling a lot better. I am feeling huge and have gained more weight than is typical for me at this stage of pregnancy. I am craving more savory food and especially onions.
This last picture was taken this past week at 26 weeks pregnant and I was pretty tired … I had just come home from spending the day in the hospital with our oldest who had to have a sleep study and EEG. He did a great job and passed his EEG!
This past week at 26 weeks pregnant I feel like I did last year at 32 weeks. I’m getting uncomfortable and starting to do the pregnancy waddle. I can’t wait to meet our little guy. Yesterday, I finished my first baby blanket/quilt for him.
