What is Periscope?
Periscope is a really fun app that features interactive live video! Through Periscope you can watch live streaming video and chat with the person who is on the other side of the camera.
How Do I Use This App?
First download the free app onto your phone and then sign in. Once you are in you will need to click on the bottom right button (the one that looks like faceless people). When you click on that button you will see a magnifying glass in the lefthand corner. This is the search button. You can search people by their names or handles. My handle is @suchatimeblog. When you find my handle just click the little button with a + sign. Once you are a follower, you will receive a notification once the scope starts up.
When Do You Scope?
I plan to be scoping every Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoon at 2:30 (Eastern Standard Time). I will also update my Facebook page before I go on. If you sign up to follow me, the notifications should give you a little “whistle” when I start my broadcast.
What if I MISS the Live Broadcast?
Don’t worry! The broadcast stays on my Periscope page for 24 hours before it disappears. You can watch the replay from there. I plan to upload my scopes to my YouTube page, as well.
Extra Things You Might Want To Know:
Periscope uses hearts. They are kind of like the thumbs up on Facebook – except you can keep giving them! To send hearts during either the live broadcast or the replay just tap your screen. It is very easy and it keeps a record on my profile of how many hearts I’ve been given. I really appreciate all the love! 🙂
The fun part about Periscope is that it is interactive! You can converse with me through this app. You can ask questions and make comments in real time. I will try to do my best to answer questions at the end of each live broadcast.
Each Scope will have a theme. I will try to let you know ahead of time what the theme will be and it will always be in the title (in your notifications).
I really hope you can join us on my next scope! I hope to see you there.
