Last week I wrote about how two years ago my kids and I did an Apple & Fall Unit Study for the month of September. We included fun apple and leaf activities to our school work. Well, this week I want to let you know some of my favorite books for October. In the Fall of 2013 we did several unit studies, first was apples and the second one was bats & caves.

The books I’ve listed below are some beautiful picture book read alouds that are fun to read as October comes around. We tied a study on bats to the study of caves. Finally, we added in other animals that live in caves which ties into Winter and hibernation. I hope you have fun reading these to your little ones. It can easily be turned into a more “formal” unit study with some art, science and geography added in. These books are appropriate for grades K-3. Check out my book list, below:
Zipping, Zapping, Zooming Bats
Now, it’s time to link up! What have you been reading? Do you have a homeschooling or read-aloud post you would like to share? I will be adding your posts to my Pinterest Board for read alouds:
